The last language I taught myself was Cockney. Hey, it's a language okay. First time I heard it, I didn't even know it's English!
The last few months, I've decided to learn a new language, Portuguese. I find it extremely fascinating and creative.
Let me share some of the basic linguistic aspect of Portuguese with you.
First person pronoun:
Mak/Mek = saya/I
Second person pronoun:
Nyah/Nyeh/Noks/Uols (you alls) = awak/you
Do's and Don'ts
dosi = sudah/have/done
dinch = don't, didn't, no
non ado = tak ada/don't have
This and That
Innniew: root word, ini = this
Ittew: root word, itu = that
Gitew: root word, gitu = like that
Tawww: root word, tau = you know
Bee to vee, pee to eff
Portuguese is a cute language. Everything sounds so sweet. Hence, the 'b' is replaced with 'v' and 'p' is replaced with 'f'.
Let me give you some examples.
Veranganz : root word, Berangan = perasan/delusional
Voley: root word, Boleh = Can.
Used to end a sentence, very much like how we use 'lah', Sabahan use 'bah', Chinese use 'meh'. Also used to mean unbelievable/the nerve
Avang: root word, abang = term of endearment for boyfriend. 'Avang asks' refers to Abang Askar/soldier.
Fomfuen : root word, Perempuan = female
Fonen : root word, Pondan = ladyboy
Fookey : root word, Pvki = vagina
